Getting a call from Tom Tykwer—the mind behind Run Lola Run, Perfume, and Babylon Berlin—to direct a 2D animated sequence for his new film Das Licht was one of those surreal moments.

The idea: bring to life a fully hand-drawn interlude set to Bohemian Rhapsody at a key point in the story. It was a rare mix of trust, freedom, and ambition—one of those projects you don’t forget.
